Police Action in Kharadi: Sex Racket Busted Using Decoy Customer; Two Arrested, Two Women Rescued
Pune: Acting on a tip-off regarding an illicit trade involving the supply of women via phone calls at a hotel in the Kharadi area (under the jurisdiction of Yerwada Police Station), the police busted a sex racket by deploying a decoy customer. Two individuals were arrested, and two victimized women were rescued during the operation.
According to the police, Police Constable Ramesh Navale received confidential information that a man and his accomplice were supplying women to customers over the phone. Women were being sent to lodges in the Kharadi and Yerwada areas based on customer requests.
This information was conveyed to Senior Police Inspector Umesh Gite. Following his orders for immediate action, the police verified the details using a decoy customer. Subsequently, a raid was conducted at the hotel, and two women who had been brought there for illicit purposes were rescued. The police apprehended the two men as they were attempting to flee the scene.
The accused have been identified as Raj Rajeshram Savita (28, resident of Kharadi) and Sunil Shivaji Shinde (37, resident of Kalepadal, Hadapsar). A case has been registered at the Yerwada Police Station under Section 8 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The operation was carried out by a large team—including Sub-Inspector Kishore Berad and Police Constable Ramesh Navale—under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Umesh Gite.
