Uddhav Thackeray takes an indirect dig at Fadnavis: "Some people's calls stopped coming in 2019; nothing will come of them now."

Mumbai, November 2, 2026: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) party chief Uddhav Thackeray took a sharp, indirect dig at Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday. He remarked, "The calls from certain individuals stopped back in 2019. Nothing will be achieved by their calls now." Previously, at an event on Thursday, Fadnavis had commented on Uddhav Thackeray, stating, "I used to respond positively to Uddhav Thackeray’s calls. However, he hasn't called since 2019. I am still waiting for his call." Picking up on this, Uddhav Thackeray responded to Fadnavis's statement today. Referring to the resumption of his communication with journalist Sanjay Raut, Thackeray said, "Nothing will come of the calls that stopped; it is the calls from [Sanjay] Raut that will get the work done." At the same event, MNS President Raj Thackeray also made a playful remark. Referring to Sanjay Raut’s book *Bodh Kirtan*, Raj Thackeray quipped, "Since the book contains so many points, I wondered—could this actually be a campaign for Prime Minister Narendra Modi?" Raj Thackeray also recalled anecdotes from Raut’s early days in journalism, mentioning that Raut had once faced verbal abuse (expletives) while interviewing Balasaheb Thackeray. However, after the interview—including the expletives—was published, Balasaheb was impressed by Raut’s audacity. Regarding the fact that Raut wrote books like *Bodh Kirtan* while in prison, Raj Thackeray remarked, "Many more such books should be written—but preferably while the author is on the outside." While praising Raut, Uddhav Thackeray remarked, “Going to jail is no laughing matter. Only Raut could find a ‘heaven’ even within the ‘hell’ of a prison.” These statements have once again brought the long-standing bitterness between Uddhav Thackeray and Devendra Fadnavis into the spotlight within Maharashtra’s political circles.
