RBI approves digital transactions without internet

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India has taken an important decision regarding offline digital payments. Digital transactions will now take place offline in villages and remote areas. As per offline payment, a transaction of Rs 200 is currently approved.

The RBI said that a maximum of 10 transactions of Rs 200 means offline digital transactions of up to Rs 2,000 will be possible. The RBI's decision will boost digital payments and help it move towards digital India. In some parts of the country, offline payments were made on an experimental basis. The decision has been taken based on the feedback given by the people. The need for offline payments is higher in rural areas.
The RBI said offline payments would benefit villages with poor internet connectivity. This will encourage digital transactions. Offline payment can be used only after the approval of the customer. This type of transaction does not require an 'addition factor of authentication'. Due to the offline payment, customers will get the message via SMS or e-mail after some time.
