FDA Crackdown in Nagpur Following Tukaram Mundhe’s Directive; Improvement Notices Issued to 9 Major Establishments Including Domino’s and Pizza Hut
Nagpur: Following the directive from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe to implement a food safety campaign, the FDA has taken significant action in Nagpur. On Wednesday, simultaneous inspections were conducted at nine renowned food establishments in the city, including Domino’s and Pizza Hut.
Deficiencies of varying degrees were found at all nine establishments during the inspections. Consequently, improvement notices have been issued to all of them. A warning has been given that if these deficiencies are not rectified immediately, strict action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act during subsequent inspections.
A special inspection drive for food establishments is underway across the state, following Tukaram Mundhe’s orders. As part of this initiative, various teams from the FDA’s food division in Nagpur verified whether major, high-footfall establishments were complying with food safety regulations. Inspections covered food quality, hygiene standards, and regulatory compliance. Strict action will be taken against the concerned establishments if the deficiencies persist despite the improvement notices. The FDA plans to re-inspect these establishments in the future and has emphasized that strict adherence to hygiene and food safety norms is mandatory for food establishments to ensure customers receive safe, high-quality food.
