Uproar in Parliament on the final day of the Monsoon Session; Lok Sabha adjourned sine die
New Delhi – Even on the last day (Thursday) of the Parliament's Monsoon Session, the chaos in the House persisted. Heated slogan-shouting took place between the ruling party and the opposition. Consequently, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned sine die.
While the opposition created a ruckus in the House, ruling party MPs also raised counter-slogans. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju expressed strong displeasure regarding the opposition's conduct. "In my 30-year political career, I have never seen such an irresponsible opposition," Rijiju remarked. He also stated that the government was fully prepared to discuss issues such as student protests and NEET.
Home Minister Amit Shah had requested Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to hold a discussion on the NEET-UG paper leak and the subsequent student protests, after consulting with the opposition. Shah had also expressed readiness to answer all questions. However, BJP leaders accused the opposition of shying away from the discussion.
The opposition has adopted an aggressive stance on this issue over the past few days. On Wednesday, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi criticized the government and demanded to know who had issued the orders to open fire on protesting students.
