About 2.93 crore voters in Bihar will have to submit documents of their date and place of birth as well as the date and place of birth of their parents in the case of those born after 1987, as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the state's voter lists has started from Saturday (June 28, 2025).
The Election Commission of India (ECI) said that it has decided to start the SIR process across the country, starting with Bihar, and the schedule for this will be released separately.
The last such intensive revision in Bihar was done in 2003, with the qualifying date being January 1, 2003.
People born before July 1, 1987 will have to submit any document certifying their date of birth and place of birth. Young people born between 1 July 1987 and 2 December 2004 must submit documents proving their date and place of birth for one of their parents. Those born after 2 December 2004 must submit proof of their place and date of birth for both themselves and their parents.
