
Rs 60 lakh assistance to families of workers killed in accident at Umred MIDC - Chandrashekhar Bawankule
Nagpur, Dec. 12: Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that Rs 60 lakh assistance is being provided to the families of the workers who died in a massive explosion at MMP Company in Umred MIDC on April 11 and Rs 30 lakh assistance is being provided to the injured workers. The government stands firmly with the families of the workers who died and were injured in this unfortunate accident. We are taking precautions to ensure that no injustice is done to them and the government will provide free treatment to those who are injured, he clarified.
A massive explosion took place at MMP Company in Umred on April 11 around 6 pm, killing three workers on the spot. Eight workers were seriously injured and were immediately shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Nagpur. Two of these workers died while undergoing treatment.
Upon learning of the incident, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule instructed District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar to provide treatment and necessary assistance to the injured.
Today, April 12th morning, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Minister of State Ashish Jaiswal immediately rushed to the spot in Umred and inspected it. They directed to take strict action against those found guilty in terms of industrial safety so that accidents threatening the lives of workers do not happen again. While inspecting the spot, MP Shyam Barve, MLA Sanjay Meshram, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar, former MLA Raju Parve, Sudhir Parve, Rajendra Mulak, company head Arun Bhandari and senior officials were present.
The families of the workers who died in the accident will be given Rs 55 lakh by the company and Rs 5 lakh by the government. Along with this, the injured workers are being given Rs 30 lakh by the company and free treatment by the government. Along with this, one person from the family of the deceased and injured will be given a job in the company.
