Kochi. England all-rounder Sam Curran has created history in the auction being held in Kochi for IPL 2023. Sam has been bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 18.50 crore. With this, Sam Karan became the costliest player in the IPL.
Kurian's base price was Rs 2 crore. Earlier, there was a 'war' between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians regarding Sam. Later Chennai also joined the race. Sam has previously been a part of CSK.
At the start of the auction, English batsman Harry Brook was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 13.25 crore. Sunrisers included Mayank Agarwal in the team for Rs 8.25 crore. It is noteworthy that out of 405 players included in the auction, 23 are Indian players, while 131 players are foreigners.
