Shocking incident in Gurdaspur: ASI and Home Guard shot dead at police post
Sunday, February 22, 2026:-A shocking incident in Gurdaspur district of Punjab has shaken the entire region. Two personnel posted at a police post were shot dead at around 1 am in Adia village, which falls under the Dorangla police station limits in the border area. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gurnam Singh of Punjab Police and Home Guard Ashok Kumar are involved in this incident. The attackers have not been identified yet, but the police have started a thorough investigation into the matter.
According to sources, the service weapons of both the deceased personnel have been recovered from the scene. The investigation team is examining the mobile phones of the deceased, which is likely to yield important evidence. The bodies of both have been sent to the Civil Hospital in Gurdaspur for autopsy.
Gurdaspur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Aditya Sharma visited the spot after receiving information about the incident. Along with him, a forensic team also inspected the area. Apart from this, Border Security Force (BSF) DIG JK Virdi also reached the spot. SSP Sharma said that both the personnel were found dead in the room of the outpost. Police are investigating the matter from various angles, including the possibility of a gangster and terrorist conspiracy. This step has been taken to prevent any possible threat in time.

We request the state and central governments to thoroughly investigate this murder and give strict punishment to the culprits. We must remain united for the security of the state and the country."
