Take action against artificial price hikes and counterfeiters - Vimala R.

Nagpur dt. 30: Taking advantage of the government's restrictions, if there is adulteration of essential commodities during Corona period and sale of commodities at unnecessary rates, then immediate action should be taken against it, said District Collector Vimala R. Gave today.
He clarified that in the meeting of the District Consumer Protection Council at the Collectorate, the Department of Weights and Measures as well as the Food and Drug Administration would pay attention to this.
      The District Consumer Protection Council meeting was held online today during the Corona infection period. Members of the Consumer Protection Council pointed out that arbitrary price hikes and sale of adulterated products were taking place as many members wanted to buy goods within a limited time during the Corona infection period. He gave instructions in this regard to the officials of Vaidya Measurement Department and Food and Drug Department. The District Collector has also appealed to the citizens to lodge a written complaint with the concerned department.
       The Covid protocol is expected to be relaxed in the next few days. Restricted shops and malls will be opened in this case, but the items in the collection will not be sold at this time. Care should be taken in this regard. He also appealed to shopkeepers not to sell items that would be harmful. In the last few days, there have been complaints of large-scale adulteration of oil. In an earlier meeting of the Consumer Protection Council, members had also raised the issue of adulteration of oil.
   Therefore, he also directed to submit a report on the action taken in this regard. The council members complained that essential commodities and vegetables as well as food items were being sold at exorbitant prices during this period. He also requested that the meetings of the Consumer Protection Committee should be held in person and everyone should get an identity card.
     Bhaskar Tayde, District Supply Officer, Secretary, District Consumer Protection Council, said in the last meeting that there were complaints about the imposition of unnecessary bills in the treatment of Kovid. A demand was made to the Municipal Commissioner in this regard. He said action was taken at several hospitals during the infection period. The District Collector also instructed to conduct a publicity campaign to disseminate information about the Consumer Protection Act to the general public and to conduct training workshops for social organizations and youth organizations. The meeting was attended by District Supply Officer Bhaskar Tayde, District Superintendent Agriculture Officer Milind Shende, Food and Drug Department Dr. PM Ballal, Member Shamkant Patrikar, Rekha Bhongale, Manohar Radke, Archana Pandey, Ganesh Inake, Ravikant Gautami, Kamal Nampalliwar, Assistant District Supply Officer Mridula More were present.
