Training will be important against the backdrop of increasing demand for financial services - Nawab Malik
Mumbai: In the next 3 years, 3 lakh youths in the state will be given training in banking, financial services, insurance and will be provided employment opportunities. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Maharashtra State Skill Development Society and the Central Government's Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) in the presence of Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship Minister Nawab Malik. This training will be beneficial for the youth of the state when the need for service related to GST, income tax etc. has increased. The program will be effectively implemented in all the districts of the state, said Skills Development Minister Malik.
The event was held at Sahyadri Guest House. Manisha Verma, Principal Secretary, Skills Development Department; Dipendra Singh Kushwaha, Chief Executive Officer, Skills Development Society; Padmanabhan, former president Rakesh Singh, Dr. Balwinder Singh, BFSI SSC Chief Executive Officer Ambrish Datta, EME Chief Technology Officer Balaji Srinivasanmurthy, Skill Development Society Skill Mission Officer Vinay Katolkar were present on the occasion.
Skills Development Society CEO Dipendra Singh Kushwaha and ICAI President H.S. Padmanabhan signed the MoU and handed it over. ICAI is a functioning body under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Central Government.
3 to 5 months free training
Under this initiative, in the next 3 years, 3 lakh youths in the state will be provided employment opportunities by imparting training in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Financial Accounting, Business and Industry Laws, Computerized Accounting through Tally, E-Filing etc. Training will be imparted to graduates, youth studying in the last year of graduation, youth who have dropped out of education after 12th standard. The 350-hour training, which lasts for about 3 to 5 months, will be completely free. The cost will be borne by the state government. The training will be imparted directly and online by ICAI in all the districts of the state by setting up colleges, training institutes etc.
Skills Development Minister Malik said the Corona and other economic crises have created a problem of unemployment in the country. There is a growing demand for manpower in the financial sector. This shortage of skilled manpower will be overcome through the MoU signed today and the training provided to 3 lakh youth in the state. Necessary funds will be made available for this training. Emphasis will be placed on imparting quality training to the students, he said.
Manisha Verma, Principal Secretary, Skills Development Department, said that the training would be extended to the disadvantaged sections of the state and efforts would be made to make them financially viable. This initiative will be important given the needs of the industry and the growing economic sector. Emphasis will be placed on making the training available to girls as well as socially backward youth, he said.
ICAI President H. Padmanabhan said that today's reconciliation agreement is historic. Other states in the country will also take the initiative to implement similar initiatives. The initiative will focus on providing employment or self-employment training to the youth. He congratulated the Skill Development Department of the State Government for taking the initiative for this important initiative.
Dipendra Singh Kushwaha, Chief Executive Officer, Skill Development Society, said that the emphasis is on timely courses and training keeping in view the new needs of the industry and service sectors in the state. Demand for this specialty has grown significantly as a result of recent corporate scandals. The MoU signed today will help in the availability of trained manpower in the financial sector, he said.
