Nagpur, Dec. 18: Artificial intelligence i.e. ‘AI’ has provided a way for every person working in the media to become more information-enabled. The limitations that existed in the knowledge obtained through our mother tongue have now been reduced through ‘AI’. Information is easily available in the language in which we want it. Therefore, instead of staying away from artificial intelligence, understand the technology. Make it more perfect through your use. This responsibility belongs to all of us, asserted Brijesh Singh, Principal Secretary and Director General of the Information and Public Relations Department.
He was speaking at a program organized by the Nagpur Press Club and the Nagpur Director Office of the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations on the topic ‘Artificial Intelligence in Journalism’ (Artificial Intelligence and Journalism).
Former State Information Commissioner Rahul Pandey presided over the program. Nagpur Press Club President Pradeep Maitra, Director of Nagpur-Amravati Division of Directorate General of Information and Public Relations Dr. Ganesh Mule, Information Director Kishor Gangurde, Dayanand Kamble were present at the program.
Mr. Brijesh Singh said, there is a fear that jobs will be reduced when any new technology comes. However, we have been experiencing the creation of new opportunities through technology. A similar fear is being expressed in the case of artificial intelligence. In fact, if it is not used to its full potential, then the concerned are more afraid of losing their jobs. However, while using this medium, everyone will have to prove themselves first. Whatever information comes before us through AI, we should verify it more, correct the errors in it and make it more perfect, and verify such information from an ethical and constitutional perspective. Everyone should be aware of this by being vigilant and correcting mistakes, he also warned on this occasion.
Today, various social media have a huge impact on people. There are many dangers in this. If a person is careless and falls prey to a wrong message on his mobile, he also has to face financial fraud, there are many examples of this. Putting aside this fear, we should be vigilant. We should be careful in the definition of constitutional and truth-false in the same perspective that we see other living beings as individuals, as humans. Any curiosity leads us to the sources of knowledge. Earlier, we satisfied this curiosity by connecting it to Google. Now, as a further step of this curiosity, we have to look at the information available through AI.
In his presidential address, former State Information Commissioner Rahul Pandey said, along with the inherent quality in us, it is necessary to make proper use of artificial intelligence. AI will not be used to commit anti-India acts, for this, AI information needs to be prepared in an Indian way. Marathi language will also have to be linked to AI. Rahul Pandey also expressed his hope that more such workshops should be organized.
