Vote Counting for 824 Seats on May 4; Model Code of Conduct Implemented Immediately
New Delhi: On Sunday, the Election Commission announced the complete schedule for the assembly elections in four states—West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, and Tamil Nadu—along with the Union Territory of Puducherry. Accordingly, the voting process is set to be completed across these states between April 9 and April 29. The counting of votes for a total of 824 seats across these five regions will take place on May 4.
Immediately upon the announcement of the elections, the Model Code of Conduct came into force in the respective states. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced this schedule during a press conference. Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi were present on this occasion.
"An error-free voter list is the very foundation of our democracy. No eligible voter should be deprived of their right to vote, nor should any ineligible individual be included in the list," stated Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He further informed that officials deployed at polling stations would upload the voting percentage to the website every two hours.
