We should aim to make the youth skilled and employable: PM Modi in NITI Aayog meeting

New Delhi: The ninth Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by PM Narendra Modi, was held in Delhi on Saturday. In the meeting, PM Modi said, "India is a young country. It is a big attraction for the whole world due to its workforce. We should aim to make our youth a skilled and employable workforce. To create a developed India 2024, it is necessary to emphasize on skills, research, innovation and job-based knowledge."
PM Modi said that, "Schemes like NEP, Mudra, PM Vishwakarma, PM Suvidha and reforms in the criminal justice system etc. should be used to bring transformational changes in Indian society and economy."
In the meeting, PM Modi told the Chief Ministers of the states and the Lieutenant Governors of the Union Territories that, "It is the ambition of every Indian to create a developed India by the year 2047. States can play an active role in achieving this goal as they are directly connected to the people.'' This meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog was focused on making India a developed nation by 2047. The objective of this meeting was to promote participatory operation and cooperation between the central and state governments, strengthen the delivery mechanism and enhance the quality of life for both rural and urban population. The Governing Council, the apex body of NITI Aayog, includes the Chief Ministers of all states, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories and several Union Ministers. The Prime Minister is the Chairman of NITI Aayog. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee left the NITI Aayog meeting midway. She said that she was stopped after 'speaking for just five minutes'. She also criticized the Union Budget 2024-25 and called it 'partisan'.
