Action will be taken against those who work against the party. Political veteran Sharad Pawar said
Will strengthen the party again, this is not a new thing
Mumbai NCP chief Sharad Pawar told the media that Ajit Pawar has not spoken to him. Action will be taken against those working against the party. The NCP chief said that we will work to strengthen the party again.
Sharad Pawar, a veteran of Maharashtra politics, said in a press conference on Sunday evening that the PM had given a statement about the NCP two days back. He said that NCP is a finished party. He made allegations of corruption. I am happy that some of my colleagues have taken oath. By joining the NDA government, all charges have been cleared.
He further said, some of my colleagues have taken a different stand. I had called a meeting of all the leaders on July 6, in which some important issues were to be discussed and some changes were to be made within the party, but even before that meeting, some leaders have taken a different stand.
On the rebellion in the party, the NCP president also said, this is not a new thing. The party I was leading in 1980 had 58 MLAs, later all left and only 6 MLAs left, but I strengthened the numbers and those who left me lost in their constituencies.
He further said, I am getting calls from many people, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and others have called me. I am not worried about whatever happened today. Tomorrow, I will bow down to YB Chavan (former CM of Maharashtra) and hold a public meeting.
Speaker's right to decide on the leader of the opposition
The NCP chief said that it is the prerogative of the speaker to decide on the leader of the opposition. In the next two-three days, we will sit with the Congress and Uddhav Thackeray to assess the situation. Our main strength is the general public, they have elected us.
strengthen the party
The NCP chief said that we will work to strengthen the party again. The MLAs and all senior leaders will sit together to decide on any action against the rebel leaders. As president, I had appointed Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare, but they did not perform their duties. So, I have to take some action against them.
It's not about the house, it's about the people
Sharad Pawar said, I will never say that my house is divided, this issue is not of my house, it is the issue of the people. I worry about the future of those who left.

Like Shinde, Ajit also staked claim on NCP
Mumbai History is repeating itself in Maharashtra. A year ago, the way Eknath Shinde had split the Shiv Sena in two, now Ajit Pawar has played a big game with the NCP in the same way. Like Shinde, now Ajit Pawar is also staking his claim on NCP. They are saying that they are the real NCP, the election symbol is going to remain with them.
defection law
The rule of defection law states that a leader can avoid disqualification if the party he is leaving merges with another political party. The second condition remains that at least two-thirds of the MPs or MLAs should agree to that merger. Now let's link the claims made by Ajit Pawar with this law.
Will the Election Commission support anyone?
Now the question arises that whom does the Election Commission support in such a situation. The one who rebelled, is he recognized, or the one who has been cheated, is decided in his favor.
