Alka Yagnik, Mammootty, and R. Madhavan Honored by the President at the Padma Awards Ceremony

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu presented the remaining Padma Awards at the second civil investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday (June 23, 2026). Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, and Home Minister Amit Shah, along with several other dignitaries, were present at the event.
Veteran playback singer Alka Yagnik was honored with the Padma Bhushan award. As she faced hearing difficulties due to an ear ailment, she was assisted onto the stage by an aide. Before ascending the stage, she greeted Prime Minister Modi and sought his blessings.
Malayalam cinema stalwart Mammootty also received the Padma Bhushan award. His wife Sulfath, son Dulquer Salmaan, and daughter Surumi were present on the occasion.
R. Madhavan was honored with the Padma Shri award. He, too, sought Prime Minister Modi's blessings before going up to the stage.
The late actor Satish Shah was posthumously awarded the Padma Shri. His cousin, Arvind Mamania, accepted the award on his behalf.
A total of 5 Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards have been announced this year. At the first ceremony held on May 26, the late actor Dharmendra was posthumously honored with the Padma Vibhushan; Hema Malini had accepted the award on his behalf.
