Data of women beneficiaries will be used for 'Larki Bahin' scheme

Mumbai. The existing data of women beneficiaries available with various departments in Maharashtra will be used for the state government's recently announced 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme. The department official has given this information. In this regard, officials of various departments held a meeting on Wednesday. Under this scheme announced before the assembly elections, eligible women will get one and a half thousand rupees every month.
Decision taken to reduce the burden of collecting data
An official of the Women and Child Development (WCD) department said, 'It has been considered to use existing data to reduce the burden of collecting data to some extent.'
The official of the Food and Civil Supplies Department said that departments like Rural Development and Food and Civil Supplies already have a database of women beneficiaries collected for old schemes. These departments have been asked to share the data with the Women and Child Development Department, which is going to implement the 'Larki Behan' scheme.
The WCD department will collect the data, bank accounts and other necessary information and share it with the IT department for disbursement of funds.
'Verifying data of new applicants is a big challenge'
The official further said that it is comparatively easy to access and consolidate this already existing data. Because it is used for fund disbursement through several schemes from time to time. Other eligible women can fill the application form physically as well as through the mobile app to avail the scheme. But the data of these new applications will have to be checked and verified, which is a big task considering the short time we have.
The Eknath Shinde government has allocated Rs 25,000 crore for the Ladki Behan scheme through supplementary demands presented during the ongoing monsoon session of the state legislature.
