Did the Trust know about the Ayodhya Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case as early as June 5? Informal action taken prior to formal inquiry

Shri Ram Mandir donation embezzlement: Trust had prior inkling; search conducted with police on June 5
Ayodhya, June 29, 2026: Shocking new details have emerged regarding the alleged embezzlement of donations meant for the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. Sources indicate that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had an inkling of the irregularity as early as June 5. However, the Trust did not file an official complaint before the matter became public.
According to reports, acting on the instructions of Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, representatives of the Trust visited the residence of one of the accused, Avinash Shukla, accompanied by the police on June 5. Cash was seized during this informal search. Despite this, the Trust did not file a formal police complaint at that time. Official action commenced only after the matter became public on June 7.
The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested eight individuals in connection with the case so far. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is conducting the inquiry. Following the exposure of the incident, Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra resigned from their posts.
Trust's Clarification
In a statement issued by the Trust, it was stated, "We are shocked by the incidents that have come to light regarding the temple. We will take necessary steps to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future."
The Trust has refuted allegations that 200 kg of silver bricks donated by devotees had gone missing. The Trust clarified that all ornaments, silver bricks, and other items are safe; records of these items have been maintained, and they are accounted for.
The Trust also stated that it has filed an FIR based on the interim report submitted by the Uttar Pradesh government's Special Investigation Team. Since this matter came to light, questions have been raised regarding the security of donations and valuables at the Ram Mandir. There has been no official response yet from the police or the trust regarding the delay in taking initial action and registering a case.
