Mumbai-Vadodara Highway to Open in November; CM Devendra Fadnavis Gives Assurance

Vasai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced that the Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway will be opened for traffic starting this November. He gave this assurance while inspecting the project site in Palghar district on Sunday. The Chief Minister stated that this highway would establish rapid connectivity between Palghar and Amne (Thane), significantly alleviating traffic congestion in the Thane and Palghar districts.
On Sunday, CM Fadnavis inspected various ambitious projects in Palghar district. During the visit, he personally inspected the construction of the Virar Interchange on the Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway and reviewed the progress with officials from the National Highways Authority. He expressed satisfaction with the work's progress while speaking to the media.
The Chief Minister said, "Currently, a large volume of heavy vehicle traffic passes through the urban areas of Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, causing severe traffic congestion. However, with this new highway and its various interchanges, heavy traffic will be diverted to bypass the cities. Consequently, the vehicular load on urban roads will be drastically reduced."
Work on the highway in the Palghar region is nearly complete, with only one bridge remaining. Instructions have been issued to the administration to complete this work on a war footing. Fadnavis clarified that the route would be fully open for traffic starting in November.
Benefits of the project:
Significant relief from traffic congestion in Thane and Palghar
Direct highway route for traffic moving from Gujarat towards Mumbai and the Konkan region
Savings in travel time and fuel
Boost to industrial transport
This highway will be connected to the Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor, further strengthening connectivity across the entire region.
