FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe Conducts Direct Raid in Dhantoli; 25 Types of Medicines Seized from Unlicensed Clinic
Nagpur: A team led by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe raided a renowned skin, laser, and hair transplant clinic in the Dhantoli area of ??Nagpur. During this operation, an illegal stock comprising 25 different types of allopathic medicines, valued at approximately ?7 lakh, was seized.
The raid was conducted on June 3 following intelligence that the clinic was selling medicines to patients despite lacking a valid license for the sale of drugs. Upon inspection, the team discovered that the clinic did not even possess purchase bills for the medicines in its stock. Furthermore, it came to light that fake receipts were being issued in the name of another licensed vendor.
The seized items included a diverse range of medicines, such as antibiotics, antifungal drugs, medicated shampoos, and antacids. Samples of four specific medicines from this stock have been sent for quality testing.
The operation was executed under the guidance of Tukaram Mundhe by the Joint Commissioner of the Nagpur Division, along with the Assistant Commissioner, Drug Inspectors, and the Intelligence Branch. In connection with this case, the process of registering a complaint under Section 18 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, has been initiated.
This operation has raised serious questions regarding the prevalence of unauthorized medicine sales within the Chief Minister's home city.
