Mahayuti Triumphs in Pune! Vikram Kakade Elected Uncontested to Legislative Council
Pune: Vikram Kakade, the Mahayuti candidate from the Pune Local Authorities' Constituency, has been elected unopposed to the Legislative Council. Kakade secured this uncontested victory after the Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Shrikant Patil, BJP rebel Pradeep Kand, and Sunil Tingre of the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) withdrew their nominations at the very last moment.
Initially, six candidates were in the fray for this election. The list included Vikram Kakade and Sunil Tingre from the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction); Shrikant Patil and Tushar Kamte from the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction); and independent candidate Pradeep Kand. However, the Mahayuti received a major boost when all opposing candidates withdrew their nominations on the final day.
Sunil Tingre's Withdrawal
Initially, the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) had granted its nomination to Sunil Tingre. However, once Vikram Kakade's candidature was finalized, Tingre had voiced his opposition. Ultimately, Parth Pawar intervened to mediate the situation and successfully persuaded Tingre to withdraw his nomination.
With this uncontested election, the Mahayuti has successfully retained the Pune Legislative Council seat in its fold.
