New Delhi: A shocking revelation has emerged regarding 'The Flourish Stay'—a homestay-cum-restaurant in Delhi's Malviya Nagar—where a massive fire recently broke out, resulting in significant loss of life.
Lovkesh Bajaj, the operator of the homestay, had cunningly obtained permission from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to run nothing more than a tea shop. However, in reality, he was operating a full-fledged restaurant spanning an entire floor of the building, along with a commercial kitchen located in the basement. He possessed no valid license for these operations.
**Permission Granted for Only 6 Rooms**
The Department of Tourism had authorized this homestay for a mere six rooms. Yet, the owner brazenly flouted the regulations and established a commercial restaurant facility, complete with a large number of LPG cylinders. This gross violation led to catastrophic consequences when the fire eventually erupted.
In the aftermath of this incident, the Delhi Police, the MCD, and the Department of Tourism are currently engaged in a blame game, shifting responsibility onto one another. It is becoming increasingly evident that this major tragedy occurred due to a severe lack of coordination among the various agencies and a complete failure in regulatory oversight.
