Government's own robbery on 174 reserved seats -Injustice in three engineering institutes in three metropolis - Reservation theft in Maharashtra
Nagpur, Date 16- Three government engineering institutes in Maharashtra are renowned. There is a deadly competition for each seat in those institutes. Admission is lost by half-one mark. The BJP government itself robbed about 174 reserved seats for castes, tribes, OBCs and others in those institutes. This incident has created a stir. Angry reactions are being expressed that the BJP government is secretly trying to end reservation on this.
These three educational institutions are in Pune, Nagpur and Mumbai. The government made these engineering institutes autonomous. They were given university status. Apart from this, people of Nagpuri's choice were appointed to those institutions with a monthly salary of two to three lakhs. Let alone the objections of wastefulness in the government treasury. However, through them, reservation was completely cut. This is a social crime committed by the government.
According to reliable sources, reservation was robbed. Among those institutions are Pune's COEP, Nagpur's LIT and Mumbai's ICT. At one time, all these three institutions were government engineering colleges. There were a total of 1,544 first-year seats in these three institutions. Out of these, two institutions set aside 30 percent and 30 percent seats respectively. Reservation in these seats was removed. Reservation in the remaining seats was maintained. However, Pune's COEP did not make any changes in the old seats. It increased the new 25 percent seats at the national level. No reservation was kept in them. Due to these types of things, about 174 reserved seats in the three institutions went unclaimed. This includes 45 seats for Scheduled Castes, 24 seats for Scheduled Tribes, 66 seats for OBCs and the remaining seats include reserved seats for demobilized vagrants, EWS etc. These institutions have 100 percent subsidy from the government. It is mandatory by law to provide 100 percent reservation in educational institutions with 100 percent subsidy. However, on the instructions of the ruling party, the reservation law has been shown as a basket of bananas.
COEP, Pune has 998 seats. The reservation of these seats was kept as is. However, about 237 seats were increased. These increased seats are for first year engineering students at the national level. In this, 142 seats were to be reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs, EWS etc. No reservation was made for these seats. This is a case of theft of reserved seats. The reservation was reduced. Those students and social organizations are preparing to file criminal and civil complaints against that institution, the Higher Education Department and the Minister.
There are a total of 209 seats in ICT, Mumbai. Out of which, 30 percent or 63 seats were set aside. Out of which, the reservation was canceled. LIT, Nagpur. There are a total of 150 seats. 30 percent or 48 seats were reduced. This is very serious.
While the vote rigging case is going on across the country, a new type of 'reservation theft' has come to light in Maharashtra. Dozens of caste, tribal and OBC organizations have warned that this reservation theft should be stopped immediately, otherwise they will stage a strong protest. NCP MLA Rajkumar Badole said, Reservation is a constitutional right. Making it public is a crime. Action should be taken against the guilty. The government will be drawn to this. OBC leader Babanrao Taywade said, this is a form of reservation theft through secret means. We will not tolerate this type of thing. We will fight against this injustice together. Umesh Korram, convener of OBC Yuva Adhikar Manch, said, this is injustice to caste, tribal and OBCs. Reservation should be implemented immediately on the open seats. Banai president Arvind Gedam said, there is a mistake in the government's policy. He warned of a protest if this type of thing does not stop. Ramesh Atram of Maharashtra Tribal Officer Forum condemned the injustice.
