At a program in Chennai, the members of The Film Federation of India, the top organization that selects the official announcement for the Best Foreign Film category at the 97th Academy Awards, announced the name of Missing Ladies as India's official entry in the Academy Awards.
Missing Ladies was directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan. It stars Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava and Nitanshi Goyal in lead roles. The jury members were introduced to the media by Film Federation of India President Ravi Kottarakara. Last year's entry was Jude Anthony Joseph's film 2018 which did not make it to the shortlist of the 96th Oscar Awards.
