Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test to Go Online; IBPS to Ensure Transparent Conduct
MAHATET 2026 Now Online! Plans Underway to Hold the Exam Twice a Year
Wardha/Nagpur: A major update regarding the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHATET 2026) has emerged. The Maharashtra State Council of Examination has decided to conduct this exam entirely online and has entrusted the responsibility to IBPS, a renowned banking examination body. Plans are in place to organize this exam at least twice a year moving forward.
Key Highlights:
An official letter signed by Mahesh Chodhe, Commissioner of the Maharashtra State Council of Examination, has been sent to IBPS. The letter requests that the examination process be conducted securely, transparently, and expeditiously.
Previously, the exam was scheduled for June 28, 2026. A total of 6,00,925 candidates had applied for it (Paper-1: 2,58,061 and Paper-2: 3,42,064). However, the exam was postponed due to certain reasons.
As per Supreme Court orders, passing the TET is mandatory for serving teachers, and they must clear the exam by 2028. Consequently, the decision has been made to hold the exam twice a year to provide candidates with more opportunities.
Candidates have welcomed the news that the exam will now be conducted entirely online. The Examination Council has informed the Principal Secretary of the School Education Department and the Commissioner of Education about this development.
The attention of lakhs of aspiring teachers is now focused on the announcement of new exam dates. New instructions are likely to be published on the official website soon.
