Modi Receives Sweden's Highest Honor; India's Global Influence Rises with 31st International Award

Gothenburg (Sweden): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with Sweden's highest civilian honor, the 'Royal Order of the Polar Star' (Commander Grand Cross). This is the highest distinction Sweden bestows upon any foreign Head of State. With this, Modi has now been honored with his 31st supreme international award.

Prime Minister Modi is currently on a tour of five nations. After successfully concluding his visit to the Netherlands, he arrived in Gothenburg, Sweden. Upon entering Swedish airspace, his aircraft was accorded a special ceremonial salute by the Swedish Air Force's 'Gripen' fighter jets. At Gothenburg Airport, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson was personally present to accord a warm and enthusiastic welcome to Modi.

At the airport, the Indian diaspora also accorded an unprecedented welcome to Modi, chanting slogans of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' (Victory to Mother India). The Swedish Prime Minister was also present at this event, signaling the strengthening friendship between the two nations.

Address at the 'European Roundtable for Industry'

Speaking at the 'European Roundtable for Industry' business summit, Prime Minister Modi stated, "Today, as the world's fastest-growing economy, India is forging ahead with a newfound confidence. India is a nation embodying the aspirations and dreams of 1.4 billion people."

During this visit, the 'Strategic Partnership' between India and Sweden has been further bolstered, and a Joint Action Plan for the period 2026–2030—covering the sectors of security, economy, technology, and environment—has been approved.

Successful Visit to the Netherlands

Prior to traveling to Sweden, Prime Minister Modi was on a two-day visit to the Netherlands. During that visit, 17 significant agreements were signed. It has also become clear that water management technology from the Netherlands will be utilized for Gujarat's ambitious 'Kalpasar' project.

This European tour by Prime Minister Modi has served as a glimpse of India's growing global influence.
