
Monsoon arrived in Kerala before time, heavy rain alert in Konkan, Goa and Maharashtra too
News:According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this year the southwest monsoon has reached Kerala before the normal date. Usually this monsoon knocks around June 1, but this time it has arrived at the end of May itself. Due to this, a heavy rain alert has been issued for the next few days in the coastal areas of Konkan, Goa and Maharashtra.
The Meteorological Department said that monsoon winds have become active in the southern Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep region, due to which there may be heavy rains in the coastal and central areas of Maharashtra in the next 3-4 days. Farmers and local administration have been advised to remain alert.
Red and orange alerts have been issued in Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar districts. Fishermen have been warned not to go into the sea.
