NEET Scam in Lakhisarai; MBBS Students and Biometric Company Staff Arrested
Lakhisarai (Bihar), June 22, 2026: A major interstate 'solver gang' network has been exposed during the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination in Bihar's Lakhisarai district. In this case, MBBS students from reputed medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar attempted to take the exam in place of genuine candidates in exchange for large sums of money. Police caught nine impersonators red-handed, and 14 employees of the private company responsible for biometric verification have also been taken into custody.
District administration and police uncovered this massive racket through a joint operation during the NEET re-examination held on Sunday. It has been revealed that the gang's ringleader is himself an MBBS student. Police stated that one of the accused is a student at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College (ANMMC) in Gaya, Bihar. Preliminary investigations also revealed the involvement of students from various government and private medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, these impersonators had been paid lakhs of rupees in advance to take the exam. Seven 'solvers' were caught at the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kiul center alone, while one impersonator each was arrested at other centers.
Biometric Security Breached
Discrepancies were detected when fingerprints and live photos taken during the exam were matched against the database, leading to the capture of the impersonators. However, suspicions have been raised regarding the biometric company's staff, as the impersonators were not stopped during the initial security screening at the exam centers. An inquiry into these 14 employees is underway, following orders from the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police.

The police are currently examining the mobile phones, WhatsApp chats, digital records, and banking transactions of all the arrested accused. It is suspected that major coaching center operators and middlemen are behind this racket. The administration has stated that the main masterminds will be arrested soon.
