Now those employees who are not working properly, will not be spared

- Central government gave important instructions to all ministries
- Those whose performance is not good, may be retired before time
New Delhi. The central government has given very important instructions to all ministries regarding government employees. Now those government employees who are not working properly will not be spared. Actually, angry at not following its instructions, the Center has asked all the ministries to review the work of the employees on time. The work has been asked to be reviewed so that those who do not perform well can be retired before time.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in an order asked the concerned ministries to direct the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), banks, autonomous institutions and statutory bodies under their administrative control to conduct periodic review of employees. It said that instructions have been issued several times to conduct periodic review of the performance of government servants to ascertain whether they should be 'retained in service in public interest or retired prematurely.'
The order issued to the secretaries of all central government departments said that the administrative ministries and departments have been repeatedly requested to comply with the guidelines issued in this regard and submit a report in this regard to the DoPT. It said that it has come to the notice that various ministries and departments are not following the said guidelines, resulting in delay in identifying government servants for review under the relevant provisions of Fundamental Rules (FR)-56 (J)/(I) and Rule 48 of Central Civil Services or CCS (Pension) Rules (now, amended as Rule 42 of CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021).
These rules lay down the policy for periodic review and premature retirement of government employees and ensure efficiency, economy and speed in the disposal of government work. In its order dated June 27, the DoPT said, 'In view of the above, the ministries / departments are requested to take immediate action in respect of identifying employees for review under the relevant provisions of the Basic / Pension Rules and ensure that their (employees) cases are presented before the Review Committee for consideration expeditiously.' Accordingly, all ministries and departments have been asked to submit a report in this regard to the DoPT in a special format by the 15th of every month from July, 2024.
