PM Modi departs for visits to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan
; focus on participating in the SCO summit and strengthening bilateral ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for a four-day foreign tour. He will visit Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan from August 29 to September 1. During this visit, he will also participate in the 26th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Prime Minister Modi shared details about the visit in a post on 'X'. He stated that he would be spending the next few days in Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. In Tashkent, he will hold bilateral talks with Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with a focus on further strengthening the India-Uzbekistan friendship. Plans are also in place to visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. He will participate in multilateral and bilateral meetings at the SCO summit in Bishkek.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders will review cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, defense, digital connectivity, energy, education, and people-to-people ties in Tashkent. Discussions will also be held regarding shared development goals, specifically 'Viksit Bharat 2047' and 'Uzbekistan 2030'. Cibi George, Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs, stated that this visit would further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Uzbekistan.
