Jharkhand: Following Delhi, students in Jharkhand have now launched a major protest. Student leader Devendra Nath Mahato has commenced an indefinite hunger strike in support of hundreds of students protesting against alleged irregularities in college examinations, the JSSC-CGL, and other recruitment exams. He believes that the current stance of both the Jharkhand government and the recruitment commissions is demoralizing students across the state.
"To maintain the students' morale and carry this struggle forward, I have decided to give up food and water starting today," announced Devendra Nath Mahato. The 'Cockroach Janata Party' (CJP) has also publicly supported this agitation. With support also coming from Abhijit Deepke, the protest has become a topic of discussion on social media, and photos and videos of the demonstration have gone viral.

At the protest site, student leader Devendra Nath Mahato announced the start of his indefinite hunger strike in solidarity with the cause. Devendra Nath Mahato said, “The results of the 14th preliminary examination were declared on the 2nd of last month—exactly a month ago—and that is where this controversy began. We launched this agitation on July 5, met the Governor on July 7, and registered our protest on July 8. We met the Chief Minister on July 20 and presented evidence, following which official action was initiated. As the inquiry into the JPSC progressed, several major revelations came to light.”
He further added, “We also organized a ‘Constitution March’ on the fifth day of our ‘Satyagraha’. The demands outlined in the memorandum we submitted have not yet been fully met. The current stance of both the Jharkhand government and the Commission is demoralizing students across the state. To sustain the students' morale and intensify this struggle, I am commencing a fast—abstaining from both food and water—starting today.”
