Youth Congress to Gherao Gadkari’s Residence in Nagpur; Protest March Against E20 Petrol Policy Planned
Nagpur: The campaign launched in Delhi against the Central Government's E20 ethanol-blended petrol policy has now reached Nagpur. The Maharashtra State Youth Congress has announced a protest involving the *gherao* (encirclement/siege) of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's residence in the city.
A march will be taken out from Deodiya Congress Bhavan to 'Gadkari Wada' in the Mahal area on Monday (August 3) at 1:00 PM. The march will be led by State President Shivraj More. The Youth Congress stated via a press release that the protest will include slogan-shouting and demonstrations, followed by the *gherao* of Gadkari's residence.
Opposition groups are raising concerns regarding the E20 policy, citing issues such as the increased financial burden on vehicle owners, the impact on older vehicles, and flaws in the policy's implementation. Nitin Gadkari has consistently advocated for the use of ethanol and alternative fuels; consequently, the opposition is now focusing its attention on his stance.
In light of this protest, additional police security is likely to be deployed in the Mahal area. Temporary traffic diversions are also anticipated along the route from Deodiya Congress Bhavan to Gadkari Wada. The administration is taking precautions to ensure the protest proceeds peacefully.
