Supplementary demands of Rs 57,000 crore presented, provision for organizing Kumbh Mela too

Mumbai: In the June 2025 monsoon session of the legislature, Deputy Chief Minister and State Finance and Planning Minister Ajit Pawar today presented supplementary demands of Rs 57,509 crore 71 lakh in the legislature. This fund will be used primarily for infrastructure projects like roads, metro, irrigation schemes in the state, planning and implementation of Simhastha Kumbh Mela, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Health Scheme, Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Grant Scheme, scholarships for backward students as well as for the development of weak and deprived sections of the society.
Of the supplementary demands presented by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Rs 19,183 crore 85 lakh are mandatory, Rs 34,661 crore 34 lakh are supplementary demands under the program and Rs 3,664 crore 52 lakh are supplementary demands under the centrally sponsored programs. Although the gross supplementary demands are Rs 57,509 crore 71 lakh, its actual net burden is Rs 40,644 crore 69 lakh.
The maximum amount will be spent on grants
The monsoon session of the Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly (Maharashtra Assembly Monsoon Session 2025) began from Monday, i.e. June 30, 2025. Out of the supplementary demands of Rs 57,509 crore 71 lakh presented by Deputy Chief Minister and State Finance and Planning Minister Ajit Pawar on the first day of the session, the maximum amount of Rs 11,42 crore 76 lakh will be spent on grants as per the recommendations of the Fifteenth Finance Commission. Rs 3,228 crore 38 lakh is for refund of stamp duty surcharge of metro projects, municipal corporations, municipalities, municipal councils, and district councils. The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has made a provision of Rs 2,182 crore 69 lakh for margin money loans for working capital to cooperative sugar factories through the Maharashtra Government.
