Kolhapur: Sambhaji Bhide, founder of Shivpratishthan, has strongly criticized the use of DJ and Dolby sound systems during festivals and demanded a total ban on them. He also expressed anger over the practice of having women dance on stage during Dahi Handi events, labeling those responsible as "anti-nationals."
Speaking to reporters after participating in a protest against the MIDC project in Sainik Takali village, Bhide said, "DJ and Dolby systems must be uprooted and discarded. What is the need for Dolby during festivals? How does it strengthen the nation? It only serves to fool people. To bury this wretched system, we must reject many things, and Dolby is one of them."
Bhide reacted angrily when asked about women dancing at Dahi Handi events. He stated, "Making women dance at Dahi Handi events is utter foolishness. Those who do this are anti-nationals. Even if they belong to our own fold, anyone engaging in such acts is an anti-national."
Some social organizations have also demanded a ban on DJs during the Ganeshotsav festival. Against this backdrop, Bhide's forthright stance has become a topic of discussion. Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has also appealed for maintaining the sanctity of festivals and avoiding unnecessary noise. He has suggested that the government hold discussions with Ganeshotsav mandals to ensure adherence to decibel limits.
