'Keep the voting machines ready..', State Election Commissioner's instructions; Will the election dust be blown soon?
Mumbai: State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare today directed that all necessary preparations should be made for the upcoming municipal elections and that the electronic voting machines should be checked first and made ready for voting. A meeting was held today through video conference between the Divisional Commissioner and the Municipal Commissioner regarding the preliminary preparations for the upcoming municipal elections. He was speaking at the time. State Election Commission Secretary Suresh Kakani and various officials of the Commission were present on the occasion.
BMC Election 2025: If Congress contests on its own, BJP will benefit!
Mr. Waghmare said that there is a need to be vigilant from now on regarding the preparations for the elections of all 29 municipal corporations in the state. This will avoid the rush at the last minute. The availability of voters, voting centers, available electronic voting machines and available manpower, etc. should be taken into account at our level. After the preliminary inspection of the voting machines, the required number can be estimated.
The Divisional Commissioner should take the role of coordinator regarding manpower and review it from time to time with all the Municipal Commissioners. If we coordinate with all the concerned and prepare in a planned manner, it will be easy for us to conduct these elections in a free, fearless and transparent environment.
Mr. Kakani said that the exact number of polling stations can be determined by keeping in mind the number of voters.
Based on that, further planning will be easy. Once the exact number of polling stations is estimated, planning can also be done regarding the requirement of electronic voting machines. Manpower will also be estimated. Manpower from the surrounding districts can be made available through coordination with the Divisional Commissioners. All the detailed and updated information regarding the overall preparation should be prepared. It will be reviewed from time to time. This information should be submitted at that time.
