Mumbai, Date 10: New government medical colleges are proposed in Washim, Bhandara, Ambernath and Palghar in the state. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed that all departments should coordinate and provide space on priority to make space available for the construction of these colleges.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was speaking at a review meeting on the availability of space and construction progress of medical colleges and hospitals under construction at Vidhan Bhavan. At this time, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, Minister of State Meghna Bordikar, Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar were present.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the government has approved the construction of new government medical colleges in Washim, Bhandara, Ambernath and Palghar. Local representatives and district administration should inspect the available places and finalize the places. Time-bound planning should be made to appoint a consultancy firm for these works and to complete the ancillary matters on time. Local administration should ensure that there is no delay in any work. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that work on government medical colleges with a capacity of 100 students and 430-bed hospitals is underway in Sindhudurg, Jalna, Amravati, Washim, Wardha, Buldhana, Gadchiroli, Parbhani and Hingoli. Additional funds are required to provide facilities in these colleges. For this, the Public Works Department should submit a revised comprehensive proposal for all works before a high-level committee as per the rules of the National Medical Commission, he also said.
