**Fuel for Agricultural Use Available in Cans Upon Identity Verification**
As a safety measure, petrol pump operators are permitted to dispense fuel for agricultural purposes into cans or containers—other than vehicle fuel tanks—provided for farming activities. In accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Rules, 2002, and to facilitate farmers' agricultural operations, diesel may be dispensed upon verification of the farmer's identity (via documents such as the 7/12 extract or Aadhaar card). A maximum limit of 40 liters of diesel per day per farmer has been established. To prevent potential misuse of this facility by unauthorized individuals, the details of the relevant vehicle's Registration Certificate (RC Book) will be duly recorded. Instructions have been issued to the local police to take precautionary measures to prevent overcrowding and avoid potential disputes at the petrol pumps. Furthermore, pump operators have been directed to ensure their CCTV surveillance systems remain fully operational and to monitor for any suspicious activities.
**Responsibility for Strict Adherence to Rules and Instructions Lies with Petrol Pump Operators**
The responsibility for strictly adhering to the aforementioned directives rests with the respective petrol pump owners and managers. District Collector Kumar Ashirwad has stated in his official order that any individual or entity found violating these provisions will face penal and criminal action in accordance with Rules 198 to 202 of the Petroleum Rules, 2022; the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023; and the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Citizens are urged to use fuel responsibly and strictly according to their actual requirements. Furthermore, practicing regular vehicle maintenance, maintaining proper tire pressure, and using vehicles only when absolutely necessary will significantly contribute to fuel conservation. The District Administration appeals to all citizens to cooperate by strictly adhering to the instructions issued by the administration.
