Farmers Stage Road Blockade on Yeldari-Jintur Road; Traffic Comes to a Standstill in Parbhani from 7 PM
Parbhani: Angered by a severe shortage of petrol and diesel in the Jintur taluka, farmers launched a 'Rasta Roko' (road blockade) protest on the main Yeldari-Jintur road starting at 7 PM on Saturday (May 23). Consequently, a massive backlog of vehicles formed on both sides of the road, bringing traffic to a complete standstill.
The farmers stated that with the agricultural season currently underway, their farming operations have ground to a complete halt due to the unavailability of diesel for their tractors and other machinery. For the past few days, petrol pumps in the region have been experiencing a significant fuel shortage. Despite lodging repeated complaints with the administration, no remedial measures were taken; left with no other option, the farmers blocked the road to register their protest.
The protesting farmers raised loud slogans, chanting slogans such as, "Farmers must get diesel!" and "Down with the incompetent government!"
One farmer issued a stern warning, stating, "If the government does not immediately normalize the fuel supply, this protest will be further intensified."
As of the time of writing this report, neither police personnel nor officials from the revenue administration had arrived at the protest site. This incident in the Parbhani district caused significant inconvenience to travelers.
