Breaking: Punjab CM Mann opposes India-Pakistan cricket match
Chandigarh, September 13, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has voiced his opposition to the upcoming India-Pakistan cricket match, stating that sporting ties often overshadow painful memories of past terror attacks like those in Pathankot and Pulwama.
Mann said that while the shared cultural heritage between Indian Punjab and Pakistani Punjab should be strengthened through people-to-people and cultural exchanges, cricket should not be linked to these relations.
Referring to controversies around restrictions on films by Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh in the past, the Chief Minister questioned whether those opposing art and culture would now also raise their voice against India-Pakistan cricket matches.
