Cars collide again on Samruddhi Highway, 6 dead

- Accident happened near Jalna, treatment of 5 injured continues

Mumbai. A terrible accident happened on Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway last night. Two cars collided. The collision was so terrible that at least 6 people lost their lives. At the same time, 5 other people are injured. This accident happened on Samruddhi Highway near Kadvanchi village on the highway in Jalna district, about 400 km from Mumbai. The accident happened around 11 pm, when a Swift Dzire entered the highway from the wrong side after filling petrol and collided with an Ertiga going from Nagpur to Mumbai.
This collision was so severe that Ertiga jumped in the air and fell on the barricade on the highway. People sitting in the car jumped out of the car and fell on the road. At the same time, the other car was blown to pieces. Six people died on the spot.

As soon as the accident was reported, Samruddhi Highway Police and Jalna Police reached the spot. Cranes were deployed to remove the cars. The injured have been sent to the district hospital for treatment.

Such accidents have happened on this highway before. In October last year, 12 people including a 6-year-old girl died in an accident on Samruddhi Highway.

Samruddhi Mahamarg has not been fully operational yet. It is a six-lane and 701 km long access-controlled expressway in Maharashtra. It is one of the longest greenfield road projects in the country connecting Mumbai and the state's third largest city Nagpur. Once completed, it will reduce the travel distance between Mumbai and Nagpur by 8 hours.
