Mumbai:Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued a stern reprimand to nationalized banks. He has directed them to immediately disburse crop loans to farmers without conducting a verification of their CIBIL scores.
Speaking at the 167th State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) meeting held at the Sahyadri Guest House, the Chief Minister issued a clear warning to the banks: "Despite our repeated instructions, some banks are still demanding CIBIL scores from farmers. This must stop immediately. If any bank branch insists on demanding a CIBIL score, strict action will be taken against them."

A target of ?44.76 lakh crore has been set for agricultural loan disbursement to farmers for the financial year 2025-26.
It has come to light that many farmers are being deprived of loans due to the requirement for a CIBIL score.
Fadnavis warned that the loan disbursement process must be taken seriously; otherwise, it would have an adverse impact on both the economy and the farmers.
Chief Minister Fadnavis stated, "The farmer is the backbone of Maharashtra's economy. Banks must cooperate to ensure that farmers face no difficulties whatsoever in obtaining loans."
