Coastal Road traffic will now be monitored by CCTV cameras, its features will amaze you

Mumbai: The ambitious project built by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, the Dharamveer, Swarajyarakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road, i.e. Coastal Road, has been completed in terms of traffic. Moreover, it has been opened for traffic in phases. The Municipal Corporation has installed 236 CCTV cameras with different features at different places on this project. With this system, if an accident occurs anywhere on the Coastal Road, the control room will get immediate information about it. Moreover, help will be available to accident victims. These cameras will keep a close eye on every movement on this road. Also, this camera system will keep a record of how many vehicles used this road during the day, what type of vehicles they were, and how many vehicles exceeded the speed limit.
The Municipal Corporation has built the Coastal Road with a long-term vision of providing fast, easy and safe transportation facilities to Mumbaikars. This project has been constructed from Shamaldas Gandhi Marg (Princess Street) flyover to Worli end of Worli-Bandra Sea Bridge. The length of this project is 10.58 kilometers. Traffic has started on this project from both sides. Therefore, from the point of view of passenger safety, various types of CCTV cameras have been installed at different places throughout the project. A total of 236 CCTV cameras with four types of features have been operational from Shamaldas Gandhi Marg (Princess Street flyover) to Worli end of Worli-Bandra Sea Bridge.
These are the cameras and their features
1) Video Incident Detection Cameras
Twin tunnels have been constructed on Mumbai Coastal Road. Accident detection cameras have been installed at a distance of 50 meters each near the inter-lane between these two tunnels. There are a total of 154 such cameras in both the tunnels. These cameras automatically detect incidents like car accidents, vehicles going in the wrong direction, etc. in the twin tunnels. They also immediately alert the control room after such an incident occurs.
2) Surveillance Cameras (PTZ Camera)
Generally, 71 surveillance cameras are installed for traffic safety. These cameras can be rotated, tilted and zoomed. When an accident occurs, the VIDS (Video Incident Detection System) system in these cameras automatically detects the incident and automatically focuses on that incident. 71 such cameras have been installed in both the underground tunnels.
3) Vehicle Counting Cameras (ATCC Camera)
A total of four cameras have been installed at the entrance and exit of the underground tunnels in the Mumbai Coastal Road project. These cameras have been installed to count the number of vehicles entering the underground tunnels and classify them.
4) Automatic Number Plate Cameras
Since the Mumbai Coastal Road project has been newly constructed, seven cameras have been installed at this location to control the speed of vehicles and identify such vehicles. These cameras record photographs of vehicles exceeding the speed limit and their vehicle number (number plate).
Complaints such as non-compliance with speed limits, racing, and noise control were being received from locals on the Mumbai Coastal Road. The installation of cameras will enable the Municipal Corporation and the Traffic Police to control these types of incidents. With the implementation of these cameras, the Municipal Corporation administration has now completed its plan to keep this highway open 24 hours a day. This facility is of great help in preventing possible accidents on the Mumbai Coastal Road project and in case of an unfortunate accident, it will be brought under control immediately. The Municipal Corporation administration is appealing to all drivers passing through the Mumbai Coastal Road to follow all traffic rules.
