Fatal attack on Farooq Abdullah: Kharge directly accuses government in Parliament, Nadda assures thorough investigation

New Delhi (Special Correspondent): The issue of the fatal attack on former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah last night created a storm in the Rajya Sabha today, Thursday. Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue during the Zero Hour and put the central government in the cage of the accused. He questioned the government's intention and said, "Is it the government's intention to take Farooq Abdullah's life?"
Kharge said in Parliament, "Yesterday Farooq Abdullah was attacked. If there had been a little delay, his life would have been lost. The citizens of Jammu and Kashmir are not safe. Abdullah's local security guards saved his life." He held the central government directly responsible.
Leader of the House J.P. Nadda reacted strongly to this. While acknowledging that the incident was ‘very serious’, he gave a full assurance on behalf of the government that, “A thorough investigation will be conducted into the matter. The culprit has been arrested and his motive is being investigated.”
However, Nadda also strongly condemned Kharge’s allegations. He said, “It is not right to look at such a serious incident through political lenses and give it a political angle. It is wrong to conclude that this happened only because of statehood. Doubting the government’s motives shows the mindset of the Congress and it is condemnable.”
Nadda also took a dig at the Congress. He said, “The Congress has not clarified its position on the death of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in Jammu and Kashmir till date.”
After this discussion, a strong storm broke out in the Rajya Sabha from both sides. The issue of Farooq Abdullah’s security has now become a topic of discussion in the full Parliament, and the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has once again been questioned. The government has promised to complete the investigation and submit a report at the earliest.
