
Major operation against Maoists in Telangana: 20 arrested, 8 surrender
Telangana: Amid the intense operation against Naxalites in Gadchiroli, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, there has been a major success in Telangana. After the Karegutta operation, the police in Mulugu district carried out a major operation against Maoists and arrested 20 people, while 8 Maoists surrendered.
The police conducted this operation in Vazhedu, Venkatapuram and Kannaigudam areas of Mulugu district. The arrested include 1 Divisional Committee Member (DVC), 5 Area Committee Members (ACM) and 14 party members. During this, the police seized 3 INSAS rifles, 4 SLR rifles, 1 303 rifles, explosive materials and cash. This operation has been important in weakening the Maoist network.
Apart from this, the process of surrender is also going on in Mulugu district. 1 DVCM, 6 platoon members and 1 Jan Militia member surrendered before the Superintendent of Police. The surrenderees will be provided assistance under the government's rehabilitation policy, the police informed.
