Millions expected to gather at Shivaji Park Dussehra gathering; Mumbai prepares for massive traffic arrangements!
Mumbai, September 30, 2025: Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), which is creating a stir in the political sky of Maharashtra, is being held at Shivaji Park Maidan tomorrow, October 1. Since this gathering is likely to attract an unprecedented crowd, the Mumbai Police Department has issued a notification for traffic bans and route changes, and the traffic system in the Dadar area of ??the city will be completely changed for the entire day. Since this gathering is not only a religious and cultural festival, but will also be of great political importance, the attention of the entire state is focused on this event.
The tradition of this Dussehra gathering, which has been going on since the time of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, is still as alive today. Last year, more than one and a half lakh Shiv Sainiks and supporters participated in this gathering, while this year the numbers are likely to double. Since the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) led by party leader and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is currently playing an important role in the state government, various slogans and political messages are likely to be given at this rally. Especially, in the backdrop of the upcoming municipal elections, this rally will be a show of strength for Shiv Sena.
According to a notification issued by the traffic branch of Mumbai Police, all traffic will be closed in Dadar and Shivaji Park areas from 8 am to 10 pm. Roads near the main entrance of Shivaji Park Maidan will be completely closed and alternative routes will have to be used. For example, the road from K.B. Petrol Pump to Laxmi Narayan Mahal will be closed, while vehicles coming from P.L. Deshmukh Marg will be diverted via the Senior Police Commissioner's Office to Central Building road. Also, vehicles coming from Dadar TT area will be given an alternative route from Swastik Chowk to Siddharth Mahavidyalaya road. These changes will be applicable not only for private vehicles but also for public vehicles, which is likely to cause inconvenience to commuters in Mumbai.
The Traffic Police, headed by the Commissioner of Police, has made special preparations for the gathering. Around 2,000 police personnel and officers have been deployed, including those from Dadar and Matunga divisions. Modern measures like aerial surveillance by drones, additional arrangement of CCTV cameras and deployment of medical teams have been taken. In particular, a 'no vehicle zone' area has been created to manage the crowd that may arise due to the crowd, and separate routes and parking facilities have been provided for pedestrians. According to the police, "Since lakhs of people are likely to participate in this gathering, no compromise will be made in terms of safety. Citizens should cooperate by following the notification."
The gathering is a cultural festival not only for Shiv Sena workers, but for all Mumbaikars. Since Dussehra is a festival of victory, a grand program of Ravana Dahan will be held at Shivaji Park ground, for which special stage and lighting arrangements have been made. In the past few years, the scope of the gathering was limited due to Covid, but now this event, which is being celebrated in full swing, will bring excitement to the life of the city. However, due to traffic changes, the police are advising residents of Dadar, Prabhadevi and Worli areas to leave in the morning. Local traders and shopkeepers have also been requested to open their shops after 10 am.
According to political analysts, this gathering will be a symbol of unity within the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). Despite the internal strife in the party, the Shinde faction has taken a strong stand, and this gathering may give clues about the emergence of new leaders and the future plans of the party. The event is also being watched by the opposition parties, who are viewing it as a 'political show'. Nevertheless, Shiv Sena workers are enthusiastic and are trending hashtags like #DasaraMelava2025 on social media.
Mumbai Police has appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on the day of the gathering and check updated traffic information through apps like Google Maps. In addition, special parking and safe entrances have been arranged for women and the elderly. Efforts are being made at all levels to make this gathering a success, and it is hoped that with the cooperation of Mumbaikars, there will be no trouble in the city.
This Dussehra gathering has heated up the political atmosphere in Mumbai, and the entire country is paying attention to the event tomorrow. Best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Vijay Parva!
