Rain Recedes in Mumbai; Citizens Grapple with Humid Heat – What Does the Weather Department Forecast?

Mumbai: After experiencing heavy rainfall over the past few days, Mumbai and its suburbs are currently seeing a break in the rain. Since Thursday, rainfall intensity has dropped significantly, and citizens are facing intense heat due to hot and humid conditions.
According to the Meteorological Department, between 8:30 AM on Thursday and 8:30 AM on Friday, Colaba recorded only 0.8 mm of rainfall, while Santacruz recorded 0.4 mm. On Friday, the city's maximum temperature reached between 32.5°C and 32.7°C—an increase of two degrees compared to the previous day—while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27°C.
The monsoon arrived late in Mumbai this year, resulting in lower-than-expected rainfall during June. However, heavy rains towards the end of June and in the first week of July led to above-average rainfall overall. Currently, the intensity of rainfall has subsided across the Konkan region and other parts of the state.
Weather experts predict light showers in Mumbai over the next three days (starting Saturday). However, the hot and humid weather is expected to persist, likely leading to increased discomfort from the heat. Citizens will have to contend with humid conditions alongside the light rain.
