Sindhi Community Makes Invaluable Contributions in All Fields: Devendra Fadnavis

Nagpur, Nov 11 – "The Sindhi community, having arrived in India as refugees, started from scratch. Today, this community stands at the forefront of every sector—including the nation's trade and commerce—and is making invaluable contributions to the country's development," Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis remarked with words of high praise here today.
Chief Minister Fadnavis was speaking at an event organized by the Vidarbha Sindhi Vikas Parishad (Vidarbha Sindhi Development Council) at the premises of Mahatma Gandhi High School in Jaripatka. During the program, land ownership deeds (pattas) were distributed to members of the Sindhi community, and councilors belonging to the community were felicitated. Dignitaries present on the dais included Bhagwandas Savnani, MLA Kumar Ailani, Amravati Mayor Shrichand Tejwani, District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, National Patron of the Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha Ghanshyam Kukreja, President of the Sindhi Vikas Parishad Dr. Vinki Rughwani, Organizer Virendra Kukreja, and Secretary P.T. Dara, among others. A total of 36 councilors were felicitated on this occasion; of these, 12 newly elected councilors were felicitated at the hands of the Chief Minister in a symbolic gesture representing the entire group.
The Chief Minister further stated that following the partition of the country, members of this community were forced to leave behind their homes, agricultural lands, and businesses to migrate to India as displaced persons. Consequently, many members of the community had to spend several years living in refugee camps. The community, however, transformed its suffering into a weapon of struggle. Today, this community leads in every field and is making an extremely valuable contribution to the nation's progress, the Chief Minister reiterated.
"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a nationwide campaign was implemented to grant citizenship to members of the Sindhi community. The lands on which Sindhi families resided were previously classified as encroachments. Consequently, there had been a persistent demand for the issuance of ownership deeds to the community members. As soon as the opportunity arose, we resolved this issue and took the decision to grant the Sindhi community members Class I ownership deeds, conferring 100 percent proprietary rights," he added. Consequently, the path has now been cleared for a large number of Sindhi brethren to obtain ownership leases, the Chief Minister stated on this occasion.
The implementation of this decision will proceed with great speed in the times to come. Furthermore, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave an assurance during his address that a decision would be taken to regularize the status of Sindhi brethren in Ulhasnagar through a distinct mechanism.
Vinki Rughwani delivered the introductory remarks, while Vicky Kukreja also shared his thoughts.
*Distribution of Leases to 350 Sindhi Brethren*
Following the Partition of India, Sindhi displaced persons arriving from West Pakistan were rehabilitated in the Khamla, Mekosabagh, and Jaripatka areas of Nagpur district. These three settlements were accorded the status of official rehabilitation colonies. Many displaced families have been residing in these localities for the past 70 to 75 years, making significant contributions to the economic, social, and commercial development of Nagpur city. Today, ownership leases were distributed to 350 Sindhi brethren. Twelve individuals received their leases at the hands of the Chief Minister in a symbolic distribution ceremony.
