Spontaneous participation of elderly and disabled voters in home voting

Nagpur, Dt. 15 – Many kangaroos of emotions in the minds of the elderly in the evening of life have come out from the house polling process of this assembly election. Central Election Commission has made home voting facility available to senior citizens who are above 85 years of age to exercise their right to vote. The representative feedback from the senior citizens was that this facility enabled the bedridden elderly as well as the disabled to participate in this democratic duty.
Due to old age, illness, many senior voters face difficulties in exercising their right to vote. They have to be deprived of voting rights even if they want to. To avoid this, the Election Commission of India has provided the facility of voting from home through home voting for senior voters above 85 years of age. Senior citizens above 85 years of age from 12 assembly constituencies of the district took advantage of this facility.

On November 14, home polling of 1 thousand 937 voters
On the first day on November 14, 1 thousand 937 voters exercised their right to vote at home in the district. In this, 375 above the age of 85 and 8 disabled in South West Assembly Constituency, 36 disabled in Nagpur South Assembly Constituency, 142 above 85 and 14 disabled in Nagpur Central Assembly Constituency, 242 above 85 and 32 disabled in Nagpur North Assembly Constituency. 50 and disabled 13, in Katol assembly constituency above 85 306 and disabled 50, in Savner assembly constituency 182 above 85 and disabled 26, in Umred assembly constituency 133 above 85 years and 36 with disabilities, 110 above 85 with 19 with disabilities in Kamathi Assembly Constituency, 143 above 85 years with 20 with disabilities in Ramtek Assembly Constituency, 1 thousand 937 voters exercised their right to vote at home on November 14.
