State Minister Pratima supports Vijay Shah, says the intention was not to insult Colonel Sofia
Bhopal, May 15, 2025: Amid the controversy over the recent statement of Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah, State Minister Pratima has supported him. Pratima said that Vijay Shah did not intend to insult Colonel Sofia. He clarified that Shah's statement was taken in the wrong context and is being politically exaggerated.
State Minister Pratima said in a press conference, "Whatever Vijay Shah said was in a general context. His intention was not to insult anyone, especially a respected person like Colonel Sofia. We should understand his statement in the right context."
The controversy started when Vijay Shah made some comments about Colonel Sofia in a public meeting, which the opposition termed as derogatory. Opposition leaders have demanded action against Shah and plan to raise the issue in the Assembly.
However, Pratima hit out at the opposition, saying they were unnecessarily blowing up the issue. "The opposition does not have any concrete issue, so they are trying to mislead the public by blowing up small things," she said.
Meanwhile, Colonel Sofia has not commented on the matter. According to sources, she wants to stay away from the controversy and does not want to make it a political issue.
Vijay Shah also clarified his statement, saying his remarks were misrepresented. He said, "I respect Colonel Sofia a lot and my words were misinterpreted."
This controversy can bring a new twist in Madhya Pradesh politics, as the opposition is preparing to raise the issue loudly in the upcoming session. On the other hand, the ruling party is trying to hush up the matter as soon as possible.
