Three from city test negative for UK Strain-free

The much awaited reports from National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune reached Nagpur. To everybody’s relief the three reports tested negative for new COVID virus UK-Strain. With the test reports reached city, the debate regarding the stay of persons in Government Medical College and Hospital has temporarily ended. But the meeting between Task Force and Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B is likely to discuss the issue.
The fear wave for UK-Strain began in second week of December while Government brought new rules regarding admissions of the persons returned from UK. According to the rules, those having travel history of last month, if test positive through RTPCR, they should be kept in wards prepared specially for the UK Strain patients in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). There were eight such patients. The samples were sent to Pune long ago. Nagpur was waiting for the test reports. According to NIV mechanism the samples it receives should be positive. According to Laboratory experts the test reports need should be COVID positive of which the genome sequencing is made. If the RTPCR test comes negative then the genome sequencing is not done. With these three persons tested negative through RTPCR they were declared as COVID Strain negative. GMCH discharged three persons.
Of eight persons three became Strain-free, reports of two samples are awaited while three reports will be received by Nagpur Municipal Corporation after five days.
